ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Camp Sew Couture was founded in 2009 by The Fashion Institute of Technology Alumni, Elle Griffin. Elle grew up believing that she could conquer the world and she believed just that when she enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

 

After her time at the Fashion Institute of technology, she returned to Washington, DC, where she became a freelance designer, working for Jon Wye, Artistic Aya, Holli Cain, Cain and Carlyle and many other Designers based in Washington, D.C. She also worked with the Greater Washington Chamber of Commerce under the D.C. Fashion Incubator pilot program where she was commissioned to do several projects. During her residency in the Fashion Incubator, she was commissioned to design and construct Blazers for the National Cherry Blossom Festivals Goodwill Ambassadors, designed a dress to be included in a number of window displays at the Walter E. Reed Convention Center, the Ronald Reagan Building, as well as many other projects. There she was able to further develop her talents and the idea to establish her own private label brand was conceived.

 

Thereafter, she moved to Atlanta and worked as a Freelance Technical Designer., where she worked with HPI Direct and Carter's Babies and kids. While working with HPI, she worked on both Product Development and technical design of corporate uniforms. HPI's client included very well known brands like Walmart, Taco Bell, Jet Blue, Sonic, and Zaxby's to name a few. While working with Carter's Babies and Kids, she worked on the Mass Market team as a technical designer for the major brands, Wal-mart, Target, and Amazon. 

 

 

Presently, she resides in Charlotte, NC, Most recently, she has worked as a Technical Designer for the Largest retailer in the Southeast, Belk, over Private Label Girl's, Infants, and Boy's apparel. She has continued working as a freelance designer doing both graphic and fashion design. 

 

 

Elle's first love has and always will be teaching. Since 2009, she has taught and trained many young people on the steps it takes to become an established Fashion Designer.
